Swansea Total Fitness 4th Annual Thanksgiving 5k Run/3k Walk

Whitney Sutherland joined Bristol Total Fitness in May 2017. She started off as a participant in Adriana’s Sugar Shakedown, and she now attends the gym 6-7 days per week. Claudia Bussiere joined Swansea Total Fitness in March 2016. She is a true testament to being the best shape you can at any age. Claudia’s consistent training regimen includes working out 3-4 times a week. After reaching a milestone birthday, Claudia decided to get into the best shape yet, and she has accomplished that! Lisa and Raul Vicente joined Seekonk Total Fitness in September 2012. As former athletes, fitness has always been a focus but inconsistency with their diet and exercise lead to weight gain. In January of 2017, Lisa and Raul committed to being healthier after many false starts. Determination and the childcare room has given them the time to shed fat and gain muscle. Lisa and Raul’s goal is to stay devoted to becoming a better version of themselves. Their greatest joy comes from being able to outrun their three children. Sean Fitzpatrick joined Bristol Total Fitness in October 2016. He attends the gym at least 4-5 days a week. Sean enjoys doing different variations of cardio, especially the elliptical and treadmill along with circuit training exercises. He is a former federal police officer and his job required him to stay fit. This year, Sean has lost a total of 100 pounds! He says, “As we age, it gets harder to lose weight and maintain it. You need to push yourself to at least thirty minutes of exercise and find what works for you.” We are very proud of what Sean has accomplished and we wish him the best in his future endeavors. Mark Mcaloon has been a member of Swansea Total Fitness since October 2016. He works out faithfully five times a week and his favorite workout day is chest day with the incline bench. Mark believes that the body is an incredible machine, if you push it to the limit it will follow. Aside from gaining muscle, since joining the gym, Mark has lost 30+ pounds. Don Lawrence joined Dartmouth Total Fitness in March 2011 and works out 4 days a week! He says, “Being a member of the gym has enabled me to do multiple 5Ks, mud runs, and a sprint triathlon.” Don’s advice – “Do something, anything – and stick to it! Something is always better than nothing!” Don is a big fan of the group exercise setting and says it has been the biggest motivator to staying consistent. Total Fitness Throwdown
This 12-week fitness competition will challenge you in all aspects of fitness. Let our professionals bring you to the next level with workouts that will focus on muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance and so much more, all while working out with like-minded participants. Once a month each team will meet at Bristol Total Fitness to compete in a series of workouts to determine the fittest team. Chelsey Dator has been a member at Bristol Total Fitness since May 2013. She comes in to work out at least 5-6 times every week. Chelsey has recovered from three major hip surgeries, and had to learn how to walk again without the help of crutches. Since her last surgery in 2015, she has gained ten pounds of solid muscle mass. She says, “You may feel like you reach a place where you aren’t progressing but it’s still happening. Don’t give up!” We couldn’t agree more! Carlos Campos joined Swansea Total Fitness in October 2013. He’s in the gym bright and early starting every day with a workout. Carlos’s workout consists of extensive stretching, lifting and his favorite activity is doing cardio. He’s had some health issues, therefore made some adjustments in his diet and workout routine, resulting in a 40lb weight loss! A favorite quote of Carlos’ is “work hard for success”. Stephen Holahan joined Seekonk Total Fitness in March of 2010 and since joining he’s been attending the gym regularly. Stephen started working with Personal Trainer, Walter Medeiros in January. With his trainer’s guidance he is now more focused on proper diet and exercise. Stephen feels that exercise helps him manage stress and puts him in a positive frame of mind. His goal right now is continuing to lose weight while increasing his strength. When Stephen isn’t at the gym, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and watching football. Brenda joined Dartmouth Total Fitness in July of 2013. Matt Wilson joined Bristol Total Fitness in November of 2016 and comes to workout six days a week. “BTF is a great facility that is always expanding and improving; it’s a facility where you are naturally comfortable.” Matt is training to become a police officer, and his motivation to never let his physical fitness hold him back from his dream. He has lost a total of 62 pounds, and continues to eat very healthy and improve his weight training abilities. Matt’s health/fitness tip is “Stay focused and committed. Once you discover results, you will want to keep pushing for more greatness. It comes with time, just never give up.” Congratulations Matt! |
Brian Ferreira joined Swansea Total Fitness in December 2016. He has been working with Personal Trainer Jim Nolan four times a week and the work has definitely paid off. Brian is now deadlifting 375 and headed towards 405 pounds. His advice is to set small, attainable goals you can reach along the way of your journey. Brian’s favorite quote is “when you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful”. Brian would like to thank all of the staff of Swansea Total Fitness, but especially Jim. Karen Santos joined Seekonk Total Fitness in May 2017. She has always struggled to stay with-in healthy weight. Now with Karen being in her 40’s, she has a teenage son who enjoys playing sports. Being pro-active in her son’s life she put him ahead of herself. So Karen’s ability to exercise and eat properly were dwindling until she joined Tammy’s Body Revolution group training. Working with Tammy, she has learned many fitness and nutrition tips and tricks. All the changes Karen has made, helps encourage her to continue to beat her personal goals to build a stronger, leaner, healthier body. So far she has lost 16lbs and going strong! Congratulations! |
David Gay joined Dartmouth Total Fitness in November of 2014. He trains with Master Personal Trainer, Jodi Garie. He joined DTF with specific goals in mind: Lose some weight, increase stamina, and improve the discomfort in his feet and back. Mary Correia joined Bristol Total Fitness in January 2017 and now attends the gym 6 times a week. She joined trainer Adriana’s Sugar Shakedown and was able to lose 35 pounds in just 12 weeks. Robin Alderman joined Swansea Total Fitness in October 2015. She began at the Senior Fitness Level and is now enjoying the benefits of higher-intensity classes. Robin suffers from COPD and Diabetes, with her exercise routine both have improved tremendously and her doctor is pleased. Barbara Bergeron joined Seekonk Total Fitness in March 2016. She has been into fitness her entire life and began training with Laurie in January where she has combined both, weight training and cardiovascular exercise into her workout regimen. Barbara’s ultimate goal this year was to lose 20lbs by her birthday. The accomplishments that she has made during the past six months motivate her to be stronger and faster. On top of having more energy and feeling better overall, the diverse training methods with Laurie helps keep Barbara focused, challenged, and always willing to learn new techniques. Jon Schwartz joined Dartmouth Total Fitness in April 2016. Chloe Headrick joined Bristol Total Fitness in November 2014. She’s at the gym at least 6 days a week. Her biggest accomplishment since joining is “Being accepted at the United States Military Academy at West Point. The intense training for the physical portion of the application payed off. It’s all a mental game, once your head is in the game, you can do anything.” We couldn’t agree anymore! Chloe also wanted to thank BTF Personal Trainer, Will Lemieux. Dan Serdynski joined Swansea Total Fitness in October of 2008. With Autism he makes sure he comes to the gym 5 days a week. Dan follows a weight lifting along with a cardio program and challenges himself each workout. His favorite workout is biceps. When Dan first started working out he was 205 pounds and has since lost 30 pounds! What he likes about working out at SWTF is that the staff and members are amazing. Michelle Mozzone joined Seekonk Total Fitness in July 2016. After Christmas she decided to set a goal to lose 10 pounds. Michelle started to keep a food journal, working out with SKTF Personal Trainer, Walter Medeiros twice a week and doing cardio at home. She has lost 8 pounds and feels stronger and healthier. Seeing the results from her hard work has made Michelle even more motivated. In her free time, she enjoys teaching, painting in her studio working towards her show coming up in August along with cooking and gardening when she isn’t killing it at the gym. Brandon Williams joined Bristol Total Fitness in November 2007. You can find him in the gym 4-5 times a week. His workout consists a mix of hang cleans, kettlebell swings, single leg exercises, core and more. Stacy Alexander joined Swansea Total Fitness in January 2016. In 2017, she started training 5 hours a week with Jim Nolan and since then has found a new strength and appreciation for her fitness. Stacy says, “That every day I feel stronger and love it when I can add more weight to my exercises. Michael Thompson joined Seekonk Total Fitness in January 2017. He started out in the 6 Weeks to Wellness Program to help him develop a healthy living style. Michael wants to lose weight and gain muscle tone while maintaining a healthy diet. Outside of the gym, Michael likes to spend time with his family and takes care of his 103 year old grandmother, who is remarkable. His biggest motivations for coming to the gym is the friendly atmosphere and his personal training sessions with Laurie. Peter Mello Sr. and Patrick Mello joined Dartmouth Total Fitness in 2012. They are an excellent example of how a father’s encouragement can lead to a positive bonding experience. Dustin Archambault joined Bristol Total Fitness in January 2014. He attends the gym 6 times a week. Dustin has always been dedicated to working out, it wasn’t until he proposed to, his now wife, Melinda, that he really focused. Since then he has lost a total of 70 lbs. and is only 5 lbs. away from his goal weight of 185! Dustin’s fitness tip to everyone is “Drink more water! I can’t say that enough” and his favorite quote about his fitness journey is “If you want it bad enough, you will do whatever it takes”. We could not agree with you more and your progress shows it. William Horin joined Swansea Total Fitness in November of 2016. He trains with Abby Cabral three times a week. At 91 years young Bill began to working out after he sustained a compression fracture of his spine. He says, “His recovery has been a long haul, but rewarding! Abby is a wonderful trainer, she pushes me hard, is very patient and has helped me regain so much strength!” Bill’s health tip for longevity is to stay active and keep exercising. Kelly Currier joined Seekonk Total Fitness in March 2016. Since the age of 13, fitness has always been a huge part of her life. Kelly’s fitness goal is to add muscle while staying feminine and toned. Her biggest motivators are having someone to train with, having goals, and the fact that she always feels better mentally and physically after putting the time in at the gym. Along with weight training, Kelly was an acrobat, ballerina, and played baseball. Lee-Ann Corbett joined Dartmouth Total Fitness in May 2016 and is committed to coming 5 days a week. Currently, she is in her first bikini competition prep with Team Body Rock and trains with Bryna Gotlib once a week to help her in this process. While training is important, Lee-Ann stresses “Diet, diet, diet!” as a key to success. Steve Viscione has been a member of Bristol Total Fitness since 2001. He attends the gym 5 days per week enjoying Yoga classes, free weights and training for 5k’s. Nicole Phillips has been a member of Swansea Total Fitness since April 2013. She works out at least 5 days a week. Nicole’s favorite workout is leg day followed by shoulders. Since last summer, she has lost nearly 20lbs. Nicole believes in mixing up your workouts and stepping out of your comfort zone. Get comfortable with uncomfortable! David Galbraith has been a member of Seekonk Total Fitness since March 2016. He joined to get fit, lose weight and to feel good about himself. David comes to the gym at least 5 days a week and his favorite days at the gym are chest and shoulders. You can also find him in the Spin room once or twice a week sweating it out with Lizzie! David is a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoys hanging out with his kids who are 16 & 21 years old. Mike Costa joined Dartmouth Total Fitness in April 2010. He is in the gym 5 days a week and focuses on specific muscle groups daily for a full body workout by the end of the week. As a firefighter Mike’s job can be taxing. “Being in good condition is a must, especially being on call 24/7.” You can regularly find him in the gym working out and talking with other members. As friendly as Mike is, he still sticks to his training and takes it seriously. “Consistency is the answer to good conditioning”. Pedal To End Cancer
Pedal to End Cancer, formerly Spin for Hope, is a three hour SPINNING event taking place simultaneously at participating health clubs around New England. 100% of the contributions go directly to the American Cancer Society! This is really just a giant Spin Party for a great cause! With over 80 participants last year, Total Fitness raised almost $60,000 for the ACS through this event! Complimentary Movement Screenings
Dr. Moore and Dr. Aunkst will be offering complimentary movement screens with associated soft tissue treatments. Each participant can expect to be screened and treated accordingly. The Drs. will spend roughly 10-15 minutes with each participant. Members can expect to gain a further understanding of their biomechanical strengths and weaknesses to build upon, along with therapeutic soft tissue work to be performed. Merle Siegel joined Bristol Total Fitness in September of 2015. She attends the gym 4-5 times per week and trains with Adriana Ferns. Making the gym part of her daily routine has been helpful. “I never thought that I would actually look forward to coming to the gym. Adriana has been incredibly supportive and encouraging. She has shown me that I am capable of exercises that I never imagined myself doing and has become a true friend and mentor”. Brendon Garrity joined Swansea Total Fitness in February of 2016. He joined the gym needing to lose weight for health reasons. Brendon weighed 275lbs and has lost 88lbs. His fitness tip is to stay consistent even when you may not be noticing a change of any kind; as long as you push yourself, stay with your program and watch what you eat – it will go a long way toward your goals. Brendon says, “The staff at SWTF are really nice and helpful. I love that the gym is not too big, never overcrowded and is always clean. Alex Joyal has been a member of Seekonk Total Fitness since May 2013 and Jodie Somerville has been a member since July 2014. You know what they say, couples who train together stay together! They met in school at Penn State and moved here for work. Alex works for USPS and is in Law School at RWU and Jodie is a Pre-K teacher. When they first started dating, Alex shared his passion for fitness with Jodie and now she also loves coming to the gym. Alex even has goals of doing a body building show this year! In their free time they enjoy going out to eat, movies and Netflix and they definitely earn it.

Brian Dorsky joined Dartmouth Total Fitness in 2008 and makes it in at least 5 times a week! He always enjoyed sports but discovered his new love for weight lifting/power lifting. When asked about his favorite lift – “Squats – All squats!” Brian might be a fan of squat variations, but at a power lifting meet, he was able to break the deadlift record and total record in his division (New England). Brians fitness tip is for people to adopt a routine they enjoy following and will actually stick to. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint” when it comes to working towards your fitness goals.
