Rhode Island Gyms Given Green Light To Open!
We’d like to thank all our staff and members for your support, complying with our new safety protocols, and making our re-opening a success!
We were very excited to re-open Bristol Total Fitness on Monday, June 1st, and welcome back all our amazing members and staff! We had been working diligently behind the scenes with cleaning protocols and facility improvements to ensure that when you come back you stay healthy and safe.
We are ready to open Swansea & Dartmouth as soon as Massachusetts permits. As of 6/12/20 Gyms are listed in phase 3 for MA. Governor Baker is releasing phase 2 guidelines on 6/6/20 so we have a ways to go before opening. Stay informed by checking FB pages for Dartmouth and Swansea re-opening dates.
Independence Park Free Low Impact HIIT Class with Ruth Raposa
Fun, challenging low-impact HIIT class using bodyweight only. It focuses on working all parts of the body with an emphasis on core and glutes. It combines strength, cardio and flexibility into one workout. You can work at your own pace and level of intensity. Limited to 15 participants.

Pedal to End Cancer Thank You!
Total donations from our annual Total Fitness Clubs fundraiser Pedal to End Cancer- 63 participants raised $16,761 for the American Cancer Society through this year's event! We would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to all the participants who contributed to the success of this great cause. We're especially proud of Total Fitness Member, Lilly McCaughey who was the Top 'Pedal to End Cancer 2020' Fundraiser in all of New England, for raising $1,695!"

This 6-week group training is for anyone from the high school athlete who is looking to get a step up in their competition, to a fantasy football manager who gets frustrated every Sunday and yells at the tv “come on, I could do that”. This class is designed with drills and exercises that the pros and top division 1 athletes do every day. Focusing on speed, agility, and hand-eye coordination, cardio exercises include ladder drills, cone drills, quick feet, medicine balls and more. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

John Martin joined Bristol Total Fitness in March 2016. He works out 5–6 times per week, “over 300 minutes per week” he shared. After losing his wife, John found himself eating in restaurants all of the time. He decided it was time to start eating healthier and joined. John lost 50 lbs. and now focuses on eating small portions and getting in his workouts. He stressed the importance of stretching as a key part of his workout routine. John finds he has more energy with his healthy lifestyle. Congratulations!

Pat Fonseca joined Bristol Total Fitness in 2016. She consistently participates in the Silver Sneakers senior exercise program three days a week and likes riding a stationary bike along with walking on the treadmill. Pat enjoys helping others who have handicaps and convinces them that exercise is the best medicine. Her positive health and fitness tip is to do “whatever motivates you!” She believes in staying positive no matter what and encourages people to remain healthy by exercising daily and to “always remember to drink, drink, drink – water that is!” Congratulations, Pat!

Total Fitness Clubs are teaming up with The United Way in the month of January to help our local families in need. There will be a bin at each club where you can place your gently used or new coats. Join us to help our community stay warm during the winter months. All coats will be donated to local families.

Mathew Dallaire has been a member of Bristol Total Fitness since 2014. He is a firefighter and attends the gym 5 days a week. Matt's exercise routine includes strength training followed by cardio after each workout. He was the recipient of a physical performance award at Air Force Basic Training in the summer of 2014. As a public servant, Matt likes the quote: “Fitness is personal, but it has implications on everyone you serve.” He shared that he enjoys attending BTF, as the gym is always neat and clean; and the staff is so personable and professional. Maryanne & Kim Hayes joined Bristol Total Fitness in June 2019. They both workout 4-5 days a week. Maryanne remarked about how much she enjoys working out with her daughter and how it’s bringing them “super close.” Kim shares her bragging rights, ”I got my Mom to work out and to use weight machines!” With Kim’s encouragement, Maryanne can now complete a full work out, has doubled the amount of weight she lifts and has lost a few pounds. Maryanne says, “Even if it hurts & you don’t want to go to the gym, get out there!” Kim’s fitness tip is to “just have fun” and suggests keeping your workout to 45 mins. at a time.

Ariana Masi joined Bristol Total Fitness in August 2014. She works out 6 days a week, and enjoys weight training especially leg day! Ariana’s fitness journey began on June 2011 when she was 16 yrs. old. She has lost 140 lbs and says that going to the gym consistently has helped her maintain the weight loss, made her feel stronger and more confident. Ariana's fitness tip is to continue to work hard “because hard work pays off!” She reminds us that change doesn’t happen overnight, so don’t get discouraged. “Once you believe in yourself, anything is possible. Marco Valzovano has been a member at Bristol Total Fitness since 2014. He is very committed to fitness, working out every day of the week! Private Yoga Sessions with Adriana Ferns
Private sessions are the perfect way to individualize your Yoga practice along with making it ideal for your body and mind. Adriana can assist the beginner to the more advanced participant with technique to make you feel comfortable in any Yoga setting. A private session allows an individual to set specific goals and plans, such as personal goals for flexibility, strength or meditation.

Summer is here and it's time for you to look your best! For 4 weeks Dawn will educate you on how to sculpt and define your body with overall fitness conditioning. This group training will keep you accountable with weekly weigh-ins along with healthy living tips on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. All levels of fitness welcome. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

Yoga Training with Adriana Ferns
Have you wanted to take a yoga class but felt you didn’t know enough about it? This 4-week Vinyasa Yoga style training is geared towards people who want to learn the basics and/or to improve form. Yoga helps with increase flexibility, balance, and mobility along with relaxation and mindfulness. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

Yoga Demo with Adriana Ferns
This class is for new yogis along with the more advanced participant who is looking freshen up their practice. Adriana will bring you through the fundamental principles of alignment, and breath work. Students will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration. Emphasis is placed on student understanding, safety, and stability within each pose. End the vicious circle of yo-yo diets and unhealthy patterns! For 8 weeks this program will help clean out the sugar from your body and help stop those carb cravings as well as craving those sweets. Meal plans; a grocery list, workouts, and weekly weigh-ins/body fat measurements will be given throughout the program. With support from Adriana and fellow participants, you will work and learn how to eat, live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

Jack and Toni Corry joined Bristol Total Fitness in April 2014. Toni attends the gym 5–6 times a week; Jack attends 3-4 times a week and claims “he can’t keep up with his wife!” Jack enjoys weight machines and treadmill and focuses on a routine for overall good health. Toni's favorite class is Spin and finds attending the gym with her husband a great incentive: “We push each other especially on those days when we don’t want to go to the gym.” Jack encourages others to remember the number on the scale is only a number . . .”it’s all about how you feel!” Congratulations to you both!

Total Fitness is teaming up with the United Way for a school supplies drive. We will be collecting pencils, pens, notebooks etc. for children in need. This 8-week program, with certified personal trainer Adriana Ferns, is an outdoor total body workout with everything from running, plyometrics, to partner and equipment exercises. Gayle Twaddle joined Bristol Total Fitness in early 2019. She consistently attends her favorite classes, Silver Sneakers and Senior Fitness three days a week. Gayle credits the classes and the fun group of ladies with “keeping her sane!” Her terrific health and fitness tip is to “just show up.” Gayle shares that attending the group exercise classes have helped her health both mentally and physically. She kindly added that the gym staff has been wonderful and that instructor, Sue DeFusco, is “the best ever!” Our best to Gayle in her continued commitment to health and wellness!

Arthur Lawrence joined Bristol Total Fitness in December 2009. He is committed to working out of 3-4 times per week. Nine years ago, Arthur decided to focus on his health and fitness. He joined the gym, started working with a nutritionist at Evolution Nutrition and lost 45 lbs. Arther has maintained terrific health and fitness. He recommends preparing a normal-size plate of food, then splitting it in half and saving that other half for the next meal. Arthur follows this routine with his meals, and it has worked successfully for both losing the weight and keeping it off. His fitness tip: “Strive each day to maintain your health and fitness.”
