Rhode Island Gyms Given Green Light To Open!

We’d like to thank all our staff and members for your support, complying with our new safety protocols, and making our re-opening a success!

We were very excited to re-open Bristol Total Fitness on Monday, June 1st, and welcome back all our amazing members and staff! We had been working diligently behind the scenes with cleaning protocols and facility improvements to ensure that when you come back you stay healthy and safe.

We are ready to open Swansea & Dartmouth as soon as Massachusetts permits. As of 6/12/20 Gyms are listed in phase 3 for MA. Governor Baker is releasing phase 2 guidelines on 6/6/20 so we have a ways to go before opening. Stay informed by checking FB pages for Dartmouth and Swansea re-opening dates.

Independence Park Free Low Impact HIIT Class with Ruth Raposa

Fun, challenging low-impact HIIT class using bodyweight only. It focuses on working all parts of the body with an emphasis on core and glutes. It combines strength, cardio and flexibility into one workout. You can work at your own pace and level of intensity. Limited to 15 participants.

9th Annual Free Boot Camp at Independence Park with Adriana Ferns

The Total Fitness team has been working hard to prepare for our member's return. The safety of our members and team is most important to us. Total Fitness did a great deal of research and planning for our members to feel safe with new safety and cleanliness protocols along with opening in a phased approach. Pedal to End Cancer Thank You!

Total donations from our annual Total Fitness Clubs fundraiser Pedal to End Cancer- 63 participants raised $16,761 for the American Cancer Society through this year's event! We would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to all the participants who contributed to the success of this great cause. We're especially proud of Total Fitness Member, Lilly McCaughey who was the Top 'Pedal to End Cancer 2020' Fundraiser in all of New England, for raising $1,695!"

Total Fitness Membership Concerns

The Staff and Management of Total Fitness Clubs appreciate your patience and understanding as we all try to navigate through the next few weeks of this State of Emergency.

Rest assured Total Fitness Clubs will not be billing any members for their April membership until we re-open. If we have not re-opened by April 1st, Total Fitness will not bill you for your April membership at that time.

Based on what day that we reopen, Total Fitness Clubs will provide for a process to Prorate members dues for the month of April.

For those members concerned about the balance of their March membership due to our closing the clubs on March 17, 2020, because of the State of Emergency, please reply to this email with your full name and key tag number and we will make every effort to credit a portion of your March dues to your account and apply it to your April dues payment.

Over the next few weeks, please remember to support all your local businesses during this most challenging of times.

Health and Safety Updates Regarding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

At Total Fitness, the health and safety of our members, colleagues and Personal Trainers is our top priority. Here is an update on the actions we are taking to respond to Coronavirus.

Like many businesses in the area, we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and the information provided by Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We wanted to update you on the actions we are taking to respond to COVID-19 and to reassure you that we are prepared, with a clear action plan in place.

What is Total Fitness doing?

In line with CDC guidance, we have increased the level of cleaning and hygiene in our gyms:

Increased frequency of cleaning to sanitize all equipment, especially high use areas such as pin pads, door handles, lockers, equipment, etc.

Ensuring soap dispensers remain filled in all toilets and changing rooms.

Ensuring hand sanitizer dispensers remain filled and encourage members to use them. They can be found in several places around the gyms.

Continuing to remind members of the importance of good hygiene in the gym.

Within Total Fitness, we have advised all colleagues and Personal Trainers on what to do when returning from foreign travel, in line with CDC recommendations.

As a member, how can you help?

Total Fitness members are encouraged to help reduce the spread of illness through good personal hygiene. This includes frequent hand-washing during your visits and covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.

We also kindly request that you familiarize yourself with the latest guidance from CDC and do not visit the gym if you are displaying symptoms of COVID 19 and are advised to self-isolate.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely, adapt our plans as necessary, and keep you updated on any changes. We thank you for your co-operation and look forward to continuing to welcome you to our gyms.

Workouts will consist of weight, balance and flexibility training with cardio intervals to focus on core strength. All fitness levels welcome. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

Weight Loss Clinic with Walter Medeiros

Participants will undertake a 10-week program that will combine personalized dietary guidelines for each individual along with a weekly group training session which will help build camaraderie amongst participants which will help you overcome many obstacles. Also included, weekly weigh-ins followed by a “group therapy” session to ultimately lose as much weight safely as well as to allow for the greatest amount of success to keep the weight off.

MEMBERS THAT INSPIRE US

Kyle Robson joined Swansea Total Fitness in 2016. He works out five times a week and his favorite exercise involves bench pressing. Kyle trained for the Elite Powerlifting Federation National Championship last year, placing first in the Masters 242 weight class with a 415lb bench press. He encourages others to devote time to the gym and train hard. Kyle follows the quote, “No pain, No gain”, especially after his double knee replacement a few months ago. He enjoys working out at Swansea Total Fitness because the staff is awesome and always helpful. Keep making strides, Kyle!!

Spring Suspension Training with Adriana Ferns

​Break out from your old routine and join Adriana for this 8-week program. TRX is a form of suspension training used to perform total body workouts with exercises that engage your core, while using your own bodyweight for resistance. Train Like a Pro with Michael Mullen

This 6-week group training is for anyone from the high school athlete who is looking to get a step up in their competition, to a fantasy football manager who gets frustrated every Sunday and yells at the tv “come on, I could do that”. This class is designed with drills and exercises that the pros and top division 1 athletes do every day. Focusing on speed, agility, and hand-eye coordination, cardio exercises include ladder drills, cone drills, quick feet, medicine balls and more. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

MEMBERS THAT INSPIRE US

John Martin joined Bristol Total Fitness in March 2016. He works out 5–6 times per week, “over 300 minutes per week” he shared. After losing his wife, John found himself eating in restaurants all of the time. He decided it was time to start eating healthier and joined. John lost 50 lbs. and now focuses on eating small portions and getting in his workouts. He stressed the importance of stretching as a key part of his workout routine. John finds he has more energy with his healthy lifestyle. Congratulations!

Total Fitness for Women is an 8-week group-training program under the supervision of our certified personal trainer, Stacia Abdow. The program is for women of all fitness levels who have a desire to be the best they can possibly be. Learn how to make your workouts more effective with workouts tailored to your needs and goals. Accountability and support from your trainer and group will help you reach your goals. This 8-week program is built around the strength and cardiovascular conditioning aspect to building muscle, gaining strength and burning fat. Beth Mello joined Dartmouth Total Fitness in April 2016. She attends the gym 4-5 times per week. Kickboxing, Zumba Strong and Cardio Chisel are among her favorite group classes. Beth always wanted to be a runner but didn’t think she had it in her. After losing 55lbs and with consistent training, Beth was able to complete her first 5k! She believes food preparation is key to living a healthy lifestyle and keeps her on track. Beth can’t imagine her life without fitness and she has met some amazing people along the way. Weight Loss Clinic with Walter Medeiros

Participants will undertake a 10-week program that will combine personalized dietary guidelines for each individual along with a weekly group training session which will help build camaraderie amongst participants which will help you overcome many obstacles. Also included, weekly weigh-ins followed by a “group therapy” session to ultimately lose as much weight safely as well as to allow for the greatest amount of success to keep the weight off.

Pat Fonseca joined Bristol Total Fitness in 2016. She consistently participates in the Silver Sneakers senior exercise program three days a week and likes riding a stationary bike along with walking on the treadmill. Pat enjoys helping others who have handicaps and convinces them that exercise is the best medicine. This 6-week strength and conditioning group training is designed for participants to achieve their health and wellness goals, feel confident and bring a new intensity to their training regimen. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone! Join James for this 8-week program that will help you achieve your goals by using the latest and most effective training methods. Efficient workouts that will build muscle, endurance and flexibility while burning fat. Participants will learn how to properly perform exercises to improve overall fitness. Weekly fitness and nutrition tips will also be provided. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

X-Training Plus with James Simmons

This 8-week program is built around the strength and cardiovascular conditioning aspect to building muscle, gaining strength and burning fat. A co-ed program for anyone looking to improve his or her overall fitness and to be pushed out of their comfort zone. Workouts will include many different types of equipment like kettlebells, plyometric boxes, sandbags, rowers, battle ropes and much more. Weekly fitness and nutrition tips will be provided. Let James help you achieve your goals using the latest and most effective methods. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

N-Spire Fit with Julie Fostin

Are you in need of some fitness N-Spiration? Join Julie for this 6-week group training that will motivate you to achieve your health and wellness goals. She will challenge you with interval workouts with a variety of equipment to improve your strength and cardiovascular fitness. Enjoy working out with fellow participants to push you to the next level of fitness. The program will include a: fitness assessment, weigh-in at the beginning and end of the program along with a weekly email with fit tips and recipes. Julie will N-Spire you to believe fitness is fun! Total Fitness for Women with Stacia Abdow

Total Fitness for Women is an 8-week group-training program under the supervision of our certified personal trainer, Stacia Abdow. The program is for women of all fitness levels who have a desire to be the best they can possibly be. Learn how to make your workouts more effective with workouts tailored to your needs and goals. Accountability and support from your trainer and group will help you reach your goals. Stacia will provide each participant with written workouts to follow outside training times, nutrition guidance for pre and post workout meals, and measurements to keep your progress on track. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

MEMBERS THAT INSPIRE US

George and Diane Silva have been members of Dartmouth Total Fitness since 2011. They both attend the gym about 5 times per week. Their fitness routine consists of cardio exercises followed by alternating push/pull weight training. George has competed in Bench Press competitions and some of his favorite memories are while competing with his son.
